GTA 5 PC Release Date Hinted Again

GTA 5

Adding fuel to the rumors surrounding the release date for the PC version of "Grand Theft Auto 5", a source claims that the release date for the open-action worldwide adventure game on PC is set for March 12 this year; a clear release date for now is stalled by a graphics update that will go beyond the next-generation consoles.

On an interview with Nuveem, a Brazilian retailer, Codigo Fonte told that the release date has been confirmed, and it is set for March 12. This confirmation was later proven as well by Thiago Diniz, Nuveem's director of digital distribution of games, reports Techinews.

This confirmation comes in accordance to and proves the reports published earlier last month by The International Business Times and The South Axis. The two had wrote that they had received information that claimed the game would be released on mid-March, 2014, though several other rumors were stating the release date to be December 24, 2013.

While The International Business Times wrote that a Norwegian retailer's pre-order page said the game would be released on March 19, 2014, The Sixth Axis reported that an Amazon spokesperson had told them that the PC version would apparently be released in the U.S. on March 12, 2014, but it wasn't an official confirmation after all.

The graphics used in GTA 5's PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions were rivaled by that seen in GTA 4. So, for now fans around the world are left wondering that a sublime graphics update could possibly be the main reason for the delay of the game's PC version release date announcement, according to Product Reviews.

But this alleged release date of March 12 is unusual according to Fansided. The website said that the date falls on Wednesday, and Rockstar Games had usually released games on Tuesdays or Fridays.

Chris Evenden, the senior director of investor relations in Nvidia, stated earlier last August that a PC version of the highly anticipated game may officially be announced during the financial call. No official announcements were made since by either Amazon or Rockstar Games, so unfortunately gamers had to keep waiting for more information on this matter.

To date, over 900,000 people have signed an online petition asking Rockstar for the PC release of the latest entry in GTA series. Though the game developing company has recently remained silent about the PC release date, the company must have by now noticed the petition.

Some players and retailers have been saying that the computer version will not be released until GTA 5 is made available for Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One. Rockstar Games does not seem to have made any progress on developing games for these new systems, and has also not made any announcements to even guarantee the existence of the PC version of its most popular game. The release plan of GTA 5's PC version now seems to mirror the same one used for GTA 4, which was first released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before it was launched on PC the next December.

But for  now, more  evidences for  a PC  version  release are  being  suggested as  the  AMD  Catalyst Update would contain the GTA 5 executable binary, reports WCCF Tech. The website also added that the PC version could have both DX 11 and 2k Textures.

Earlier this January, the company made "GTA San Andreas" available on iOS, Android and Amazon Kindle  HDX  devices with  revamped,   high-resolution  graphics  including lighting  enhancements, enriched colour palette and refined character models.

Currently, "Grand Theft Auto 5" is available  for both PlayStation 3  and  Xbox 360. Though it's  still pending whether Rockstar Games will port GTA 5 to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, it seems fans who are eagerly anticipating the PC release will have to wait another two months or so.
